The latest found-wood sculpture from Charles Slaybaugh, Sleestak was carved from a log of spalted maple. Its distinct lines are the result of staining that was created by a fungus.
This piece is a representation of a marriage of plant and animal life with one side resembling a leaf like structure and the other side resembling a nautiloid sea animal. The two sides seamlessly blend into one another through the use of flowing lines.
