"Park & 51st"
Aphrodite's love for the arts began as a young adult. She has always thought of her art and photography's her lighthouses. She carries a camera everywhere, whether a trip to Greece or a local museum; landscapes and candid family shots are her favorites. Early on after taking pictures, she'd tried and sketch them on paper. Sometimes a failure but more often she was rather happy with the results! Her curiosity of different media expanded, and she began using both acrylic and watercolor.
The arts have become an outlet. She finds painting landscapes calming; her love of the paint flowing on the brush against a canvas as she blends hues to create the skies and the oceans. Her photography keeps her grounded and helps her to appreciate the beauty around me.
In 2021, three of her works will be part of the Best of SUNY Exhibition that will run throughout the year. A schedule for viewing is being prepared.
- "Brook Arts Theatre, 1927" and "Fly Away" will be displayed in the main exhibit, and photograph entitled "All of Life's Necessities" has been accepted into the Chancellor Gallery of the Exhibition.
- Aphrodite's work may also be seen in the virtual (NY) Bayside Historical Society’s 20th Annual Winter Art Show. A photograph, “Pomegranate," and a watercolor entitled “Two is Company” will be exhibited. The show is scheduled to run through the end of February.
We hope you take pleasure in her special artworks – we love having her as a part of the Painted Moose Gallery.
